just in case

Last night, I dreamed

my dead dad

kicked in my front door.

Without a word,

he shot me

in the head,

and that was it

for me.

Today, I put a trigger

lock on the gun

he gave me

for Christmas

five years ago,

and I threw the keys

off an overpass,
