Crayons
by Irwina Samara
Our first date
I gifted you a box of crayons
Red blue yellow green
And you gave me
cherry blossoms
Bashful pink
A Christmas cypress
evergreen
The second gift
a paper plane
You sent back
A dole of doves
Flawless white
The breeze of spring
On Tulip fields
The third a blanket fortress
And you built me
A red brick home
With a blue front door
And a lifelong stack
Of children dreams
